We're Movin' On Out!

*insert The Jeffersons music*

Well, it's not a "de-luxe apartment in the sky," but it's definitely new blog digs.

So, grab your keyboards and follow me over to my new place here!

4 Hours Later....

I'm *still* getting the "error on page" message at the bottom of my Wordpress blog, but I can't figure out where the error is or how to get rid of it.

Oh well, such is life, I guess. I never claimed to be a programmer or The Mistress of all things Blog or anything of the kind. (I did, however, get my ring codes for Ewe-Tah Knits! and HP Knitters up, and I'm relatively confident that they're going to function once I'm moved out of the Ewe-Tah Knits! queue. That only took me 2 hours.)

I'm a point and shoot kind of grrl--the "I'll tell you what I want to do and you make it do it" type who shoots from the hip and is no nonsense. I don't enjoy all of the "fiddly" things about blogging, which is why I went with Blogger in the first place.

I appreciated the fact that I could come in and create a free blog without any html knowledge, have a template all set up and ready to go, and that the template was relatively easy to hack when I did gain slightly more html knowledge. I also appreciated the fact that Blogger would host my photos for free, and with this being primarily a knitting blog, that was important to me.

So, now I'm breaking free from my comfort zone (thanks to less-than-stellar service, fiddly things going wrong and being FORCED to change over to new Blogger), and it's just going to take some time to figure out how to do all of the things I used to like to do here over there. (Like writing a post and THEN using Flickr to insert a photo. Haven't gotten there yet.)

Thanks for all of your nice comments about my new digs. I'm trying to make myself a nice new home, but it's just taking lots.of.time.

EDIT: Isela moved me out of the Ewe-Tah Knits! queue, and the ring code works! Also, I fixed the error message (which I actually don't think was something of my doing in the first place). Seems I just needed to choose a new theme and the error disappeared!

BTW, I found the *PERFECT* theme to replace the old one--it's greeny and taupey and all cute. Yay!

All Quiet on Blogger's Front (but not on Wordpress)

Okay, so it looks like I've been AWOL and haven't been blogging for a few days.

The truth is, I *HAVE* been blogging, but not here and not about new stuff. I'm working on a Wordpress blog (I hear the strains of the Hallelujah Chorus coming through my monitor as y'all are reading this, so be quiet for a minute and let me finish! :)), and it's coming together slowly but surely.

So far I've been introduced to the wonder called Flickr, been just about widgeted to death (love those pesky things), and been getting bus-driver-butt from sitting in front of the monitor for hours at a time.

Now I'm just trying to figure out how to get my ring codes and fanlistings on my sidebar, and then I'll be ready for Wordpress business. Any hints as to how to get them up? Anyone? (Bueller??)

If you want to check out the blog so far, it's at http://stitchnsnitch.wordpress.com/ . So far all I have posted are my free patterns, but you can scope my new digs out if you wanna.

Chain Link Sweater: Finished!

On the night before Father's Day, the sweater looked like this:
And by Father's Day afternoon, it looked like this:
Hurrah! It's DONE (finally) and looks fantastic if I do say so myself. I used Mushroom Wool Ease and the Chain Link Pullover Pattern from Tara Jon Manning's Men in Knits, both of which were hand picked by Mr. S-n-S.

Now it can be nicely folded and put away until September or October. That's what you get for finishing a winter sweater in summertime! :)

Another Ribbon Scarf for The FM: Finished!

The FM has a "thing" for ribbon scarves, so when I saw a couple of balls of Lion Brand Incredible in the Autumn Leaves colorway on clearance for $2, I had to take them home and *quickly* knit them up for her.

(Why quickly? The FM has a high school reunion coming up, and this would look great with her new fruit-punch colored t-shirt, and everyone needs something snazzy to wear to a high school reunion, right? :) )

I used size 19 needles and about 1.5 balls of ribbon, and the scarf ended up being probably 6.5 feet long (including fringe), so you can't beat a finished knitted object for less than $4 that will definitely be loved!

Ankh Peds: Finished!

In the interest of full disclosure, I actually finished these at the end of last week, but with all of the DeStash craziness, I just hadn't gotten around to posting them yet.

Aren't they just lovely? The yarn (Twisted Yarn) was a tad bit thinner than other sock yarns I've used, so instead of using US2 dpns and casting on 64, I used US1 dpns and cast on 72. I also did a modified top (8 rows of ribbing and no plain stockinette rows) and a slightly longer heel flap because they rode slightly higher on my heels because of the longer top. The verdict: They fit like gloves.

(I've had some of you tell me that you can't find my free patterns since I changed my blog template. You'll find this pattern--The Not Pedestrian Ped--along with the rest of them on my sidebar (scroll down a bit) under the "Free Pattern" label.)
